36: De Sterkste Boom | Dutch

by Gunter's Fables

The tree in this Fable considers the process of becoming the strongest and most prominent tree in the forest and all the elements that participate and contribute to the entire ecosystem. It’s a team effort with soil, water, pollination, photosynthesis all playing their roles plus so much hard work that goes on behind the scenes by the fungi, worms, ants, and bacteria. The tree recognises that everyone makes a contribution, big or small and that there is no wastage in the forest.

This Fable is inspired by Melva Inés Aristizábal. She created a method for teaching children with disabilities to read and write, and founded the Integral Rehabilitation Program for Special People (Pripe). Maria Inés also explained and taught the parents and the other inhabitants of the Caldas region (Colombia) how to accept the integration of all ability levels into the daily life of the community. This integration succeeded because it increased the self-esteem and autonomy of the special children allowing them to interact freely with normal kids.

Gunters Fables are structured to include the following learning guides and categories: Did you Know, Think about it, Teachers and Parents Guide, Academic Knowledge, Emotional Intelligence, The Arts, Systems: Making the Connections, Capacity to Implement and who the Fable is Inspired By!
